Happy Halloween! And Snoooowwwwwww!!!!!

Halloween and Snooooww!

Well it's Halloween and it's my first Halloween where i can legally buy alcohol. Isn't that special. Anyways besides that we pretty much had a snow storm the last few days and it was looking more like Christmas rather than Halloween and Fall time but hey that's Colorado for you. Me and Gabby built a snowman, and i guess you can say that's why im a photographer not a sculpture hah! It's the effort that counts though. We went to the dog park with Sky and he had a blast in the snow! I did a dog park panorama check it out!

Sports
As far as sports updates the Avalanche are still hot and the Nuggets are back in flight with the new start to the NBA season. They are 2-0 and going strong! The Broncos play the Ravens tomorrow in Baltimore so that should be a fun one to watch.

School and Photography related stuff.
Well i decided im going to do a second portfolio, and this one will be my Advertising/Commercial and Portrait book. Im not sure if Im just going to do a Portrait book, or just and Advertising/Commercial book or both in one book. But nonetheless i am going to make that book using blurb. It's a great economical cheap way to make a good quality book.

Fine Art
Lately i've had an interest in fine art photography and still don't quite know what it is. I guess it's just capturing beautiful things and moments and turning them into fine art. I thought that's what photography was anyways hah. Well i've uploaded some recent fine art stuff i've shot (at least I think they are). So check em out!

Wrapping Up
I'll let you know how that shoot goes tomorrow where im shooting my cousin dancing in the "Day of The Dead" dance. Should be fun and colorful! Hopefully I'll be able to go as long as i can get a ride. If not i might just go down and shoot at the Platte River near sunset. Should be gorgeous.

That's about it for this post until next time i'll blog you later!

Processed photos from shoot #2, and Platte River shoot!

Well really no sports updates today, Broncos had a bye so let's get straight to the good stuff.

I made a website for myself, not to fancy but still shows my work to the world. You can see that at http://www.onlinegalleries.com.au/users/alucerophotography. I'll be updating it just as i will be updating this blog as often as possible! I am also working on making my own site in Web Portfolio I class. I've uploaded a sample template that i designed, just to show you what the site might look like as far as the interface.

Platte River
Well i finally got a chance to head down to the Plate River with my camera. I really should bring my camera with me everywhere i go unless it's prohibited somehow, and somehow i always manage to forget which is not a good thing. Anyways the shoot was fun, i think i got a couple of good shots, however next time i shoot down there i'm going to wait until sunset. That's the best lighting situation for me, or sunrise which tends to be too early for me. : ) I'll be uploading some photos as soon as i get them processed!

Processed Photos from Shoot #2 and some from #1
I've uploaded some photos that i finally got a chance to process. My personal favorite is the lightrail HDR. I actually found out how to do an HDR with one image in lightroom. Usually you have to combine 5 images all with different exposures in Photomatix Pro.

Went to a party over the weekend, and should be going to a party for Halloween. Should be exciting!

Next Shoot
Next shoot i got planned is an event my cousin is dancing in. It's an event to celebrate "The Day of The Dead" in Mexico. Should be colorful, and hopefully i can get some portfolio worthy shots!

Ciao!

Making Progress! Portfolio Exploration Shoot #2(mainly just a reshoot of the 1st), senior pics and more good new for Denver Broncos Fans!

Well like I always like to do, i'll start off with the sports stuff. The Broncos handled the Chargers 34-23 and Eddie Royal had 2 kick returns for touchdowns last night! The Broncos are 6-0 now and have a bye! Awesome! Also the Avalanche are 6-1-1 and off to great start to the hockey season.

Portfolio Exploration Shoot#2

Well I'd like to apologize for uploading these photos so late. (the final edited ones from Shoot #1) I've been really busy but hopefully you will enjoy them!

I pretty much just re shot the places that i shot in Shoot #1 near the Denver Center for The Performing Arts. Different time of day, and tried to include people. I will try to get these posted asap! Got to shoot well this weather is still nice and not snowing like crazy!

Senior Pics

Over the weekend I picked up a gig for shooting senior pics for my Aunt's friends daughter's friend. Hah i know long connection but It went well I though. Intentionally they wanted to shoot at Lookout Mountain, but we ended up shooting at Red Rocks, where I shot my Aunt's friends daughter. Went well for both shoots. I'll have the 3 best shots posted asap!

That's about all for now. I have a website(sort of) with my work posted. You can see that at http://www.onlinegalleries.com.au/users/alucerophotography. Over the weekend went bowling with my girlfriend and some family. That was fun! Also looking into some Moab spray for my portfolio prints that supposedly protects your prints, and enhances them visually as far as saturation of color etc. Did a profile on my paper and going to test it tomorrow. I'll let you know the results shortly! Also think I found a permanent font for my logo. I'll be uploading my log shortly once i finish it(with the help of my dad who is a graphic designer.) The font for my logo is called Orator Std. Simple but nice. Also the weather has been nice in the 70's but not for long. Rain/Snow storms on the way as early as tonight! Also added a reworked image of the window washer.....

Until next time Adios!

Rockies Dissapointed Me....... Shots for Portfolio and....... The Window Washer, Eugene!

A Dissapointment
Well as you can probably tell from the headline the Rockies didn't pull out the win last night. They were up 4-2 at the top of the 9th inning with 2 outs and they just needed one more out. Instead the allowed the Phillies to score 3 runs, and they lost eliminating them from the playoffs..... It's unfortunate, but they had a great season, and better luck next year!

Shoot #1 For Portfolio
I also went downtown last night as I said i was to shoot at both the Denver Center For The Performing Arts and Union Station. I got some good shots, and my favorite ones were of the dancing statues outside the performing arts center.

The Window Washer
Well as we were coming back home from downtown we stopped by the gas station, and just as we were getting ready to leave an old man with a cooler full of stuff stopped Gabby and apparently asked her if he could wash our windows for a quarter. Initially I wanted to get home because it was getting late and I was tired. I offered to just give him 50 cents and leave without him having to wash the windows... He refused, and went on the wash our windows... Im glad i waited, because this was one of the most interesting old men i have ever gotten a chance to speak with. Apparently he was homeless, his name was Eugene and he came out from Alaska (where Gabby is from). He stays under a tree in a hidden spot he didn't want to tell me about.. which was fine. Apparently from what he says, he keeps the riff raff out of the gas station, which the police love, he helps the gas station people empty out the trashes, and he washes people windows to make money. He was a very nice man, and he thanked us and said "he loves us, and we are gifts from God." Apparently our Husky Sky loved him because he gave him doggie kisses on his cheek. I took some shot of him, and we decided to give him a blanket and a flash light, which he asked us for. We had an extra blanket and flash light so why not? I hope our good deeds come back to us in a positive way! A sad story, but we tried to make it a happy one at the end!

Well that's about all I've got for you now, I'll blog to you later!

Adios.

Lots To Update You On!

Well to start off, sports.... My Rockies were downed last night 6-5 bringing the series to 2-1 with the Philles having 2 wins. Hopefully they can pull out a win here, and Monday in Phili. On a more positive note my Broncos downed the Patriots in overtime 20-17! It was a great to see Josh McDaniels beat his old mentor and teacher Bill Belichick. At the end of the game McDaniel's was jumping around like a 4 year old kids pumping up the crowd. It was great! Sports needs that....

Well Saturday it snowed and it was cooolllldddd! I posted some pics as promised! Saturday night was my uncle Pt's birthday. I went over there with Gabby and we had a pretty good time. Unfortunately she had to work Sunday so we couldn't really stay that long. It was still fun!

I also purchased a laptop over the weekend, so now I can keep you updated pretty much anywhere, at anytime as long as i have a connection to the Internet! Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the software of hardware because it worked fine when i bought it, and now all of a sudden its freezing at start up. I'm taking it to the Mac Outlet, and they should be able to fix it right up.

Took some great shots of Sky! He's a great model! Also the little black chihuahua was soo cuute i couldn't refuse shooting him. Also couldn't refuse the cute little squirrel posing for me. There always causing racket on the roof of our house! Gets a little annoying sometimes! I feel like their apart of our family sometimes!

Photo Shoot #1 for Portfolio
So later on im going to shoot at the Performing Arts Center here in downtown. Hopefully I can get some captivating shots that will please my portfolio instructor. They must please me first! I'll post them after i finish post-processing.

Moab Kayenta Photo Matte Paper 205
So I got the printer profile from the Moab site and it wasn't to bad. I'm still going to profile the paper in Portfolio Design and Production class, and fortunately my teacher is going to use my paper as a teaching tool, and I will have my profile without having to do much work (thank to Todd) he's great.

As far as switching Portfolio Instructors from Cynthia Holling-Morris to Dave Neligh it wasn't successful. In a response Dave wrote:

Hi Angelo

Though flattered you wish to be in my class, we are unable to accommodate your interest. My class has only positions that were vacated by the grads. I'm sorry. However, please feel free to stop by my class and let me see what you are doing.

Dave

Also Cynthia responded today with: Hi Angelo-- Sorry the trade didn't work out. I look forward to working with you.

I feel bad because now Im sure Cynthia doesn't think I want her as a instructor. This is a not true. I love Cynthia as an instructor, I just wanted to change things up and get some different eyes and opinions on my shooting. It's ok, like Dave said I can still take it to his class, and have him give his 2 cents on it. I still like Cynthia, she gives good feedback....

Well im off to the shower..... (maybe a little too much info hah? :)

Its supposed to warm up over the weekend! Good news!

Good Afternoon! Ciao.

Protest at the Capitol (Late Post!)

I was scrolling through images on my hard drive and came across these. On September 12th, 2009 there was a protest at the capitol here in Denver. I'm pretty sure they were protesting for reforming health care. There was quite a few people out with picket signs, and people shouting out for attention. I figured i'd post these up to show you a little of what went on....

Enjoy and goodnight!

It's still cold!

Snow is in the air! And the Rockies get the win in a nailbiter!

Well the first day of snow in Denver has finally arrived! Just as I was leaving for work a couple hours ago after watching the 5-4 nailbiter Rockies win against the Phillies I saw the snowflakes coming down. As some people might hate the snow, I love it! Just humbles me and makes me appreciate life! I'll have some photos posted soon of the beautiful site once i get a chance to shoot it.

As i just mentioned the Rockies pulled it out against the Phillies today tying the National Leauge Divison Playoff Series up 1-1 and they're headed back to Coors Field in Denver for 2 games. Hopefully the Rockies can win 2 here and advance to the next round in the playoffs. If they do it will be second time like back in 2007 when the Rockies made it the World Series that they knock the Phillies out in the first round of the playoffs.

Well my second 2 classes went well (Portfolio Design and Production and Portfolio Exploration). Although i was a little confused about the teacher I was given for my Portfolio Exploration class. On the schedule it said Dave Neligh who I wanted (beacuse he has alot of resources espescially when it comes to Travel Photography), but instead i was given Cynthia Holling Morris. I've had Cynthia the past 3 quarters and although I like her as a teacher, i'm not sure she will be the best guide when it comes to Travel Photography. She shoots Weddings and Portraits, and although I also want to shoot Portraits my main focus is Travel Photography. I am going to try to contact both instructors to see if i can switch. Hopefully i'l be able to do it.

As for my Portfolio Design and Production class I am excited! I can finally start working on building my official portfolio, and customizing myself. It helps that Todd Dobbs is the instructor, and he's probably one of my more likeable instructors. Probably just because I feed off his passion and he helps me grow as a photographer each day.

Well i suppose i'll get back to work. I'll some snow day pics uploaded real soon, along with some other exciting adventures. I plan to shoot on Saturday for my Portfolio. I'm going to find some places around Denver to shoot, and hopefully it will be snowing so i can get some snow in my portfolio. Hah!

Catch ya later!

Travel Photography It Is! Thanks to the book "New York Sleeps:Christopher Thomas"

Do you remember when I had that predicament a few weeks ago about my decision to pursue a more "Travel" based career and shooting "Travel" for my portfolio, or shooting a "Advertising/Commercial" based portfolio for school. Well thanks to the new book i discovered at work well re-shelving books, "New York Sleeps:Christopher Thomas" i came to the final conclusion "Travel it is!" There were beautiful images in this book, all black and white, with great Polaroid borders. Basically he photographed an "empty" New York and made New York seem abandoned. It was great.

Just the thought of traveling to a wide range of places, and challenging myself to shoot a specific location different from a way any other photographer has. Not that i don't love commercial/advertising because I do! So that's that!

Also unfortunately because of a confusion with my schedule i should have been in first class Web Portfolio 1 from 12:30-4:30 instead of working here in the library. Oh well, stuff happens and i will have to get caught up! That's my quick rant of a blog to keep you updated.

Goodnight and Goodbye!

Back to school, continuing work, and having an epiphany just now!

Well here i am working in the library again, which will be from 12-10PM tonight. Ouch! My first double shift at the library.....

Well the weekend was a bit soggy and wet, but definitely still fun! Friday i didn't do much after work, Saturday I hung out and played cards with Gabby(my girlfriend) and Sunday watched my Broncos go 4-0 by defeating the Cowboys 17-10! It was a great game, and pretty exciting. The whole season writers and critics doubted our new team, with 33 yr old coach Josh McDaniel's but we have proved so far we are for real! Than took the dog to the dog park with Gabby in the foggy wet afternoon, although i love that type of weather. We were drenched by the time we got home though as was the dog!

Monday I slept in, and woke up to prepare some delicious French toast (At least I thought) spending the whole day with Gabby (which is really humbling and rewarding) and i am grateful for it and than watching some TV and eventually going to sleep.

Man, i don't know what it's been lately but i have had trouble getting out of bed. This morning I knew i had to work at 12PM and therefore i had to catch the bus down the street by 11:21am. I didn't get up until 10:45am continually hitting the snooze button on my phone's alarm clock. I think its due to my lack of exercise, and slightly unhealthy eating habits. Although lately i've been pretty hearty and healthy. Yesterday started off with some french toast, (although not the healthiest thing), than had some grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, and dinner, i enjoyed my dad's chipotle potatoes with pork.

This morning i started off with a napkin full or country made potatoes on the way to the bus stop. Now im getting ready to jump into a cheese sandwich! Enough of my eating habits.

Well I'm back to school tomorrow! I am excited about that. I set down my camera and didn't touch it all school break. That bring me to my epiphany. Posting these blogs and giving you all this literal information I'm sure seems to get boring... I am a visual person and i should be posting photos to accompany the literature because i am a visual person, and you should see my vision through this PHOTO blog. I will start doing that as often as possible and as soon as i can.

I shot with a super sampler a few weeks back, and still have another role to get developed. A super sampler is an andy warholish type camera that shoots on 35mm color film, and gives you the image you capture in 4 different colors. Yellow, Blue, Red, And Green. It's a toy camera for sure because you have no control over focus, exposure, or even composition. I love shooting with these cameras because you never know what your going to get. I will post some images i have shot recently soon!

Shifting gears last night I started reading "A Camera, Two Kids, and a Camel: My Journey in Photographs" by Annie Griffiths Belt. It's a fascinating book just from the start. Its a book on the journey this woman took as a photographer with her 2 kids from birth. She and her husband traveled to numerous places around the world with their 2 kids, since they were born. Annie started off not at all wanting to be a photographer, but she was always fascinated with "images" more than reading and writing. She started off working as a waitress, than eventually attended college and picked up a camera and from than on she was fascinated with photography. She worked for the college newspaper, and was eventually hired on to be one of the first female National Geographic Photographers. The book is great from what i have read, and i can't wait to read more!

Like i said i am fascinated more visually than literally. I love literature and the English language, and i love writing but i will start posting more images of my journeys everyday even if it's just an image of the french toast i made, or the soggy streets in Denver. I must carry my camera MORE. Well that's the conclusion of today's post.

The Rockies play the Phillies tomorrow in the National League Division series in the playoffs. Go Rockies!

The Broncos have a tough test Sunday against coach Josh McDaniel's former team the Patriots. Good luck to the Broncos!

Goodbye.

The Party Last Night... (Though I wasn't there very long)

Well i attended a party last night... My friend from school Sam Potts invited me. I was glad i went! The people hosting the party were Zorn Photography consisted of Zach and Jody. I talked to Zach briefly and he seemed like a nice guy.

There was 2 open bars there, nice heating lamps outside, and the inside of this loft was amazing. It's right down the street from my house also! Unfortunately i only knew Sam so he was the only person i really talked to. There were prints on the wall, a nice flat screen tv displaying their photography, model looking waitresses serving lemon ma range pie and chocolate covered strawberry's. There was also some mini hamburgers containing some really rare ground beef. As Sam told me the meat is from a cow that has been fed organic food all their life, well being massaged everyday. Wow happy cows make happy meat for sure. They also had items for bid like bronco tickets and snowboarding gear.

I hope to have this some day. I will, it will just take some hard work and determination and a little support from my family and girlfriend. It will happen eventually.

Well that's about all I have to keep you updated on, besides the fact that my beautiful husky Sky was almost robbed from us last night. He got out of the yard, and 2 ladys were attempting to take him. How low can people get really?

Anyways as for sports Rockies are in the playoffs, and Go Broncos beat Dallas and be 4-0!

Well Ciao.
